EW Facility Services takes part in Seven Hills Run for Barcode for Life Foundation
Running for a good cause
23 August 2011 - On 20 November 2011, three teams of EW Facility Services will run the 15-kilometre section of the Zevenheuvelen run in Nijmegen for a good cause, the Barcode for Life foundation.
The Barcode for Life foundation supports the large-scale research into the effective and personal treatment of cancer. High-tech DNA analysis of cancer cells, the BARCODE FOR LIFE, is the key focus in the research carried out by the Center for Personalized Cancer Treatment (CPCT), which bundles the forces of three prominent cancer centres, NKI/Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, Erasmus MC/Daniel den Hoed and UMC Utrecht, under the guidance of professor Emile Voest, medical oncologist.
Most of the existing treatment methods are based on the common denominator: one chemo suits all. The result thereof is a limited success for patients and medications with nasty side-effects. We can turn this tide. To do that however, specialists and researchers need six million Euros per year. That is why every contribution is welcome, no matter how small and regardless of whether it is a one-off or a regular payment. After all, every gift contributes to realising the DNA analysis of cancer cells.
As the ambassador of the Barcode for Life foundation, EW Facility Services endeavours to maximise its contribution to the financing of this research as much as possible. This year, we do this by recruiting sponsors for our teams that participate in the
Seven hills run. For 500 or 1000 Euros, EW Facility Services invites clients to become shirt sponsors for the
Barcode for Life foundation. The good cause is of course the focus here, not the effectiveness of advertising. More than twenty runners under the guidance of former Olympic runner
Marko Koers have started their training sessions and the first sponsor is a fact: promotional gifts specialist Hedi International.
