EW Facility Services cleaning partner of sustainable voco® The Hague
IHG Hotels & Resorts’ newest premium hotel concept, voco® The Hague, officially opens its doors to the public today. A brand new hotel in the former ABN Amro bank building in the centre of The Hague. EW Facility Services is the proud cleaning partner of the hotel. After a refresher cleaning earlier this month, the facility services provider is now out of the starting blocks and ready for the real work.
Minimise environmental impact
Sustainability is an important issue in business operations and voco™ hotels makes careful choices to minimise its impact on the environment. It also expects this from its suppliers. It is a responsibility that EW Facility Services gladly takes on. In its own words, as a leading facilities service provider, the organisation sets an example in this respect. Jeannot Peijen, Business Development Manager: "We were the first cleaning organisation in the Netherlands to introduce the ozone system. Cold tap water is converted with electricity in a compact high capacity unit into stabilised ozone water that has a cleaning and hygienic effect. This then has a hygienic cleaning effect for 24 hours after which it returns to water and oxygen."
This method replaces 80% of the daily chemical cleaning products. In addition to its effect on the environment, this method improves safety for employees and saves litres of water polluted by chemicals. In addition to the Ozone system, EW Facility Services cleans with bio-based products from the SURE line of Diversey; completely vegetable and 100% safe in use. Reducing the number of transport movements and a zero waste policy are also initiatives that contribute to reducing the impact on the environment. Peijen: "In honour of our new partnership we gave voco® The Hague an iclean mini as a gift, one of the machines that clean according to the ozone system. Handy for in the restaurant or at home."
In search of innovations
Because of its modernity and high sustainability standards, voco® The Hague offers EW Facility Services the perfect opportunity to use this new hotel as a so-called 'flagship store'. A place where they can test new innovations in the field of hygiene, robotics and sustainability throughout the year. The facility services provider will then roll out successful pilots nationwide. Examples of innovations include soap made from organic waste, 100% recycled toilet paper, and the i-mop which works 70% faster and uses 75% less water.

Pursuing the brand standards and correctly implementing the IHG Clean Promise and IHG way of clean is a necessity for voco® The Hague.
