EW Facility Services has been organising the EW|Saxion Entrepreneurs Award in partnership with Saxion since 2010. Eric Wentink, the founder of EW Facility Services, took the initiative to set up the award. He is a former Saxion student, and according to the ‘Top 50 Saxion spinoffs’ he is the most successful entrepreneur from this university of applied sciences.
The EW|Saxion Entrepreneurs Award is intended to stimulate and reward entrepreneurship among students. “Because entrepreneurship creates future prospects, for the individual student but also for society”, according to Eric Wentink. As well as the title of Best Saxion Student Entrepreneur, the winner of the EW|Saxion Entrepreneurs Award earns a €5,000 cash prize and mentoring from professionals in the field of entrepreneurship. A €2,500 “encouragement prize” is also awarded to the runner-up.
Bas Cornelissen, managing director of EW Facility Services: “This competition enables young entrepreneurs to realise their dreams. We believe in the potential of these enthusiastic young people, with their great ideas and their burning ambition. Enterprise means thinking in terms of opportunities, and we see a clear similarity between the entrants in this competition and way we work at EW Facility Services. That’s why we want to empower young people to make their dream of their own business a reality.”
