And the nominees are…

The outside world can no longer ignore the importance of cleaning and the role of the cleaning staff. Cleaners are at the basis of a clean, hygienic and safe (working) environment. Every year the Golden Service Awards are presented to show the appreciation for cleaning. This year again. Cleaners from various organisations compete for the title(s), best cleaner, best cleaning team and best manager of the year. Of course we also entered a number of our colleagues and teams. Unfortunately, we were only allowed to register three colleagues or teams per category. Not an easy choice for our internal jury! Now follows an exciting period, because halfway through October we will know whether they are through to the next round.

And the nominees are…

Best cleaning employee of the year:

Renuka - The innkeeper
Renuka is a reliable silent force that is certainly not invisible. The combination of quality of cleaning and compassion, makes her at care location Herbergier Delft completely at home. Renuka is very involved with the location and its residents. She goes to work every day full of passion. Rayon manager Marcel:" After first working in hotel cleaning, Renuka switched to Herbergier Delft last year. Quite a change considering the target group of elderly people with dementia. From day 1 it was a perfect match. Dedication and flexibility in her work and sensitivity in dealing with all aspects/phases of life for the residents typify Renuka".

Hennie - Hotel and Sports Centre Papendal
This year Hennie has been working passionately in the cleaning business for 25 years and you can see that. In addition to her quality, she excels in her perseverance, pro-activity, flexibility and collegiality. Object Leader Carla:" Hennie is an example for her colleagues. She is cheerful, always there for you, very flexible and willing to help everyone. She looks beyond her own work and also identifies things she runs into in the hotel rooms and other places on the premises where she is not working. When work came to a standstill due to corona, Hennie was the first to indicate that she would like to work at a care location. Her contribution where it was so much needed at the time was a matter of course for her".

Khadija - Ernst Sillem Hoeve
Khadija is a cleaner with a golden edge, enthusiastic, positive and always willing to help. She loves to work every day, learns fast and doesn't shy away from a challenge. She has a lot of knowledge of different cleaning methods, but not unimportant: colleagues enjoy working with her. Supervisor Haiam: "Khadija is always positive and is 100% committed. In doing so, she ensures that everyone on the team wants to do their best. When I'm not there, she replaces me on the work floor. I can then fully trust that everything is going well. In addition, she has a great smile that the hotel guests, colleagues and client stay with every day".

Best manager of the year

Romana - Holland Casino Amsterdam
Romana knows how to motivate her team in a fun, spontaneous way. With Romana the glass is always half full. She knows how to get her noses in the same direction. Hospitality is what she's all about. It doesn't matter which sector she works in, her hospitality makes all the difference. After years of working at a hotel location, Romana has made the switch to other segments. When she offered extra support during the coronapiek in Spaarne Gasthuis hospital, she was praised for her insight into how cleaning can contribute to the patient experience. They were so satisfied that they even offered her a job, but fortunately she stayed with our organisation. She has been leading the team at Holland Casino Amsterdam for 3 months now and impressed the client immediately. She has everything well under control and knows how to win everyone over with her enthusiasm. Rayon manager Robin:" Romana is always present on the shop floor and knows exactly what's going on. Through her positive image and way of leadership she stimulates her team to achieve the best results".

Aysegul Oz - NH Utrecht
Aysegul once started at NH Utrecht as a cleaning employee and is now the driving force behind the cleaning team as Housekeeper. The client is very satisfied with Aysegul. She really is a professional woman with a lot of drive, who effortlessly delivers very high quality. She goes straight to her goal and imperceptibly puts her signature on everything she does. She is organised, extremely professional and makes sure it is finished down to the last detail. Together with her team she goes for the best result. She embraces the latest innovations. For example, she was the first location where the use of iPods was introduced. Rayon Manager Anne: "What makes Aysegul so popular is her clear way of communicating. She is strict, but fair. Everyone knows what she has to offer and where they stand. She leaves nothing to chance and always keeps her word to both the client and her employees. Furthermore, she does not hide her appreciation for her colleagues and does her utmost to make it as enjoyable as possible for everyone. ”

Lonneke - Hotel Merici
Lonneke is a manager who has made great strides in a short period of time. At the beginning of 2018 she started as Management Trainee and at the end of 2018 she was Housekeeper at 5 star location Kruisherenhotel in Maastricht.
