EW Facility Services starts services at European Medicines Agency
The imposing building of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) on the Zuidas in Amsterdam recently officially opened its doors. The 19-storey building offers space for 1,300 workplaces and some 600 conferences and around 20,000 visitors per year. Since January 6th 2020 EW Facility Services provides cleaning and waste management services at EMA!
Working together on EMA’s sustainability standards
When you drive along the Zuidas in Amsterdam, you can already see the EMA building rising above the neighbouring buildings from a distance. But it’s not only the exterior that’s impressive; the interior has also been finished to the highest specifications. Marije Wildenborg, EW Facility Sales manager, says: “The building is BREEAM certified and meets the demanding BENG standards. Sustainability also played a major role in the tendering process. With our top-quality service provision we’re perfectly equipped to fulfil EMA’s sustainability needs. Our proposal for separated waste collection and cleaning without chemicals by using stabilised ozone water, were particularly appealing”.
Collaboration with partners
EW Facility Services provides a variety of facility services in the new EMA building; cleaning services, internal glazing, sanitary supplies, waste collection and pest control are part of the contract. Marije Wildenborg: “We don’t do this on our own, but together with our preferred suppliers. With coordination, communication, delivery and invoicing all under our responsibility. Our on-site Cleaning Supervisor is EMA’s contact person for all these services.
Proud partners
Bas Cornelissen, Managing Director of EW Facility Services, is looking forward to the partnership with EMA. “Of course we’re really proud that EMA has chosen us. With a client like EMA, where quality and hospitality are crucial, we can put our unique abilities as an expert in this field into practice. We do this amongst others with three full-time day janitors who are available all day to resolve any disruptions and fulfil requests on demand. I am confident that we’re at the beginning of a long-term collaboration.”
