Volunteers EW Facility Services at work in Vondelpark
The Vondelpark in Amsterdam is a historic park that is visited by an average of 10 million people a year. In order for everyone to enjoy the park to the fullest, the Hart voor het Vondelpark foundation is working together with the City of Amsterdam to improve the Vondelpark. Every year all kinds of activities are initiated to keep the park in good condition. After all, how nice and unique is it to relax in the hustle and bustle of the city in the green surroundings of the park? One of these activities is the annual benefit action, the JCI Vondelpark Open, organised by JCI Amsterdam for the maintenance of the park benches and the Rosarium. Because of corona this year no fundraising action, but an alternative action on 10 July, namely the actual cleaning of benches. EW Facility Services, together with a group of volunteers from its organization, took care of the implementation of this action.
Vondelpark park benches clean
With the help of sponsors (private individuals and companies) many new park benches have been placed in the Vondelpark in recent years. A beautiful design by Anouk Vogel and Johan Selbing that portrays the flora and fauna of the park. It is of course important to show these benches in their full glory. However, graffiti and daubing of the park benches is a structural problem. The Vondelpark Park benches clean action shows how important the foundation and the municipality think it is to keep the benches in good condition.
Contributing to the experience
At facility services provider EW Facility Services, the perception of guests, patients and staff of the clients is central. Jeannot Peijen, Sales Manager EW Facility Services and member of JCI: "We normally collect money with JCI for the maintenance of park benches, among other things. When our benefit campaign could not go ahead and we were asked if we could not do something physical in the form of cleaning the benches, I had to think of my employer right away. Experience is central to everything EW Facility Services does. The cleaning of the benches in order to contribute to the optimal experience of the Vondelpark, fits in perfectly with this. That is why there was no doubt that we, as an organisation, volunteered to take part in this action. It was a beautiful day, where we worked hard and laughed, resulting in around 60 benches that are shining again in the Vondelpark".
The municipality of Amsterdam sees it as a great initiative and alderman and vice-president of the southern district, Rocco Piers, therefore kicked off this action.
